I don't put any confidence in the 'bullet test' . I suppose it is supposed to be a guage of muzzle condition, but you need to be careful as there are differences in the dimensions of various bullets....

Most military rifles were cleaned from the muzzle end causing wear at the muzzle. "Bullet gauging" is a quick way to spot this. Another thing to consider is whether the muzzle is counterbored or not....

Let us know how it turns out. I am curious. At 50 yards, you may have to aim low to get on the paper, but I would think if the rifle is good, you should be able to hold a two inch group or less at 50...
